My vehicle began to feel like driving a boat. It was shuddering and driving roughly. My vehicle was repaired by a recall that I believe reprogrammed the tcm, 14m02tsb 16-0129 was done yesterday. Although I can feel some improvement in the 35 mi drive home, it still shudders and feels the same. This did not fix the problem. My boyfriend researched through various service bulletins and found 14m01. He then jacked up the car, removed the tire to get a better look and saw the leak. It does not leak enough to leave noticeable marks on driveway but is leaking. When I called, I was told that my vehicle was no longer covered as I am just outside of this warranty since I have slightly over 127797 miles and this ended at 100,000 or 10 years. My car is a 2011. If I had been aware of this problem, it would have been fixed during that time. Since there was no code or warning and no visible evidence of the leakage, I was unaware. The dealer who reprogrammed the tcm was unaware, there are no codes relating to this issue on the car. They only code I now have is an oxygen sensor or something code that showed up after they reprogrammed the tcm. I believe Ford should extend this warranty for these effected cars, there are many with this problem, we have researched through the complaints. I want Ford to cover the costs of parts, labor and any costs related to the repair of this problem that they were fully aware of. I know they say the 2 bulletins are not related but I feel that they are.

I have had the tcm on this vehicle replaced twice after transmission malfunction light suddenly came on. It came on a third time and the issue still causes transmission malfunction indicator to illuminate, however this time it is my dual clutch. Same symptoms in the vehicle every time. With no warning, the vehicle will suddenly lose power, fail to change gears, shutter forward after stopping, come to a complete stop in the middle of driving. Two days ago driving uphill, my vehicle, with no warning at all, started going in reverse, down the hill. I am in the middle of a class action suit with Ford that is taking forever to settle. I have tried to get Ford to replace my clutch, but they claim it is not part of the extended warranty like the tcm is now, even though it causes the same issues with the vehicle. I can pay to have it fixed myself, but it can go out at any given time again, with no warning. Ford does not believe these issues are safety issues. They are. These cars do these things suddenly. As I am reaching out to Ford about this, they do however inform me that there is a recall on my door latches. They consider this a safety issue, but not the transmission? unbelievable.

About the middle of last year I noticed the problem while driving,so I stopped driving it. About two months ago I tried to start my car and the vehicle shut down completely for the second time and I had it towed to the Ford dealership in southgate, they said that Ford motor told them to reset the software in the car, they did and got it running again. They also told me that there was a clutch problem and that was causing the engine light to be on. What they didn't tell me was that NHTSA and Ford motor had a recall to fix the transmission clutch shudder/transmission input shaft seal which has a warranty extension for free, they told me it would cost me over $2000 dollars to have fix. The field service action number is 14m01 and the fsa tittle is transmission control module extended warranty coverage. I bought this car in January 2018 from dick genthe Chevrolet and have not been able to drive it safely since the middle of 2019. Until now,I tried to get them to take the car back, and they would not. I would like for Ford motor company and their dealership to fix my car for free or give me a 2018 in it's place with a minimum payment of 158. 12 which is what I'm still paying for the 2011 Ford Fiesta. Thank you for your time in addressing this safety issue. I would like to feel safe in my car when I'm driving.

The vehicle was in motion on a highway and the engine light appear, and at the same time the the transmission control module failed. I took the car to the Ford dealership in bronx and they told I have a clutch problem, plus transmission control module problem. They told me they dont cover the recall, according the warranty department because the damage is internal. But the recall for Ford Fiesta 2011 existing because of transportation fail. Can you tell me for sure why they don't approve and if is a company mistake they should buy your car or to replace it?.

Tl the contact owns a 2011 Ford Fiesta. The contact stated that ever since the vehicle was purchased on April 5, 2010, she noticed that it did not engage in gear at times. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who determined that there was a failure with the transmission control module. The vehicle was taken to john kennedy Ford (1650 the fairway, jenkintown, PA 19046) where it was diagnosed that the clutch failed and shift loaders were needed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 105,000.

When I purchased my vehicle new I had several problems with the transmission. After several trips to joe cotton Ford in carol stream, IL there was no remedy besides removing the cables from the battery to reset the vehicle's computer. On September of this year I received a letter from Ford motor CO. To advise that they need to do a software update due to a tcm circuit failure. I took my vehicle to friendly Ford 333 e irving park, roselle, IL, on Monday November 11, 2019, so they can rectify the problem. Prior to taking my vehicle to the dealership I removed the battery cables. Apparently the dealership was not able to install the new software. The service advisor advised me that the card code reader was not able to identify the error message and they had to charge me. My vehicle was at the dealership for several days and they loaned me a car while it was in service. I was charged $199. 00 for them to look at the problem and since they could not update the software I had to pay the bill. I called Ford motor CO. For assistance and the agent told me that there was little they can do since the dealership is a franchise. This is unjust that I was charged for something I was advised that would be free of charge. I hope to be reimbursed.

This does this every time I drive ! it's having a hard time finding what gear to go in !.

Transmission not working. Took to dealer said extended to tcm would be covered but not malfunctioning. Clutch and internal assembly is failing. Class action lawsuit and dealer suggested me to call Ford. This is riduculous. Car has actually been parked for 3 months because we were afraid to drive. Afaid I will be in an accident if I drive this car and I will hold Ford fully responsible if this happens. I am considering looking for an attorney.

Tl the contact owns a 2011 Ford Fiesta. The contact stated while driving 45 mph he noticed that the rpm on his manual vehicle went all the way up but his vehicle had not shifted gears. No warning indicators illuminated. The contact stated it had exhibited the same symptoms as an unknown recall. The contact took the vehicle to a dealer (tim grody Ford (6211 beach blvd, buena park, CA 90621) who diagnosed the vehicle and stated that the pcm module was fractured and it was repaired but, the vehicle still experienced the failure. The manufacturer was notified and informed the contact that he should take the vehicle to another dealer. The failure mileage was 88587. Jc.

My 2011 Ford Fiesta with only 94k on it has a automatic transmission failure and starting issues. There are recalls on where Ford extended the tcm warranty to 10 years 150,000 miles which I believe may have lead to the failure of my transmission. The Ford dealership in ankeny iowa says they will not do anything for me to fix this problem. .

I was at the rocky mountain national park when my car wouldn't start. I have a aaa membership so they came and jumped my car. We drove a couple miles bought a new battery but it was was not shifting properly . We called our Ford dealership in wisconsin that we always go to and they told us the transmission control module will prevent car from starting , drain your battery , and not allow car to shift properly. The drive down the mountain was very scary the car would not shift right and jerked the car violently. The drive on the highway was not much better, we had semi's almost hit us. Flashing lights at us because we could not speed up. We called around no one had the part we needed. With it being the weekend some Ford service shops weren't even open. We were told not to shut car off because it might not start again so we drove all night long for 26 hours home at 50 mph because we could not go any faster. The speed limit was 75 mph and several times we had cars get right on our bumper and switching lanes at the last second. Finally my husband put our hazard lights on so other drivers would realize we were unable to go fast. It was a scary and nerve racking experience. The Ford Fiesta has a really bad transmission that has broken on us before and Ford keeps extending the warranty but that doesn't give us peace of mind when traveling. I have to worry every time I travel that this car will break down. In fact I have rented cars 3 times to travel because I don't trust my Ford. This vacation I decided it was a waste of money to rent a car for a week and I took my Ford and it let my family down for the last time. This car should be recalled because it is not safe. You have to make sure that you have a lot of room to pull out at intersections because it shifts so slowly and does not take off like most cars. Please help get this unsafe car off the road. Thanks.

5 times repaired for some of the same thing. Clutch replaced 3 out of 5, shaft seals replaced, reprogrammed several times pcm/tcm, pp test shudder, performed several adaptive learn strategies. In summary we have a lemon. If my son needed to get out of the way in a hurry, and couldn't due to the faulty parts on his car. He could be killed or injured real bad. Then there would be a big law suit.

Ive taken my car to the dealership around 4 times for the same problem. The fourth being the worst. The car will shudder, shake, over rev, low power when taking off and lack of powersteering and brakes. Its had its tcm reprogrammed to no avail! clutch has been replaced to no avail. Third time it stared again and had to get the car reprogrammed again. The last time the car would not drive over 30 mph without shaking shuddering and trying to find the right gear. Couple of times the car stopped while driving!! dealership replaced the tcm . On about the fourth time in. My wife drives our kids to school in this car and I have not confidence in its ability to sustain and deliver my family safely to their destinatation. Im currently making payments and have also tried to talk to Ford about a buy back or replacement and they said I don't meet or qualify for the California lemon law. They had pulled my records at the dealership to verify the car status. All actions that the car displayed and others have encountered have happened when pulling away to accelerate. A couple of my complaints on the service record was not recorded. I think the first and the last ones were however.

On 10/10/16, my car was shuddering once it hit 10 mph and when shifting from d to p. I brought it into cal worthington alaska and they tested trans operation and found trans clutch shudder, checked oasis for 15b22 , TSB 16-0109, pp test n, checked for dtc's in the tcm none found, reflashed pcm/tcm, performed adaptive clutch learn, test drove vehicle recorded shudder event and uploaded data to Ford, aquired the rvc code rpfhfpc8nry5f ordered clutch. TSB 16-0109 performed, 160198b 0. 6 raised vehicle and removed trans assembly, inspected for trans leaks none found. Replaced clutch, throw/out bearing, and the small snap/ring. Performed clutch adaptive learn again, test drove finding operation normal.

Our 2011 Ford Fiesta started experiencing problems while driving. It was not shifting properly and running really jagged at times. Also the check engine/transmission light came on. On Wednesday September 14, 2016 I took in the car to our local Ford dealer colley Ford in glendora,CA. They told me it was probably the transmission control module that had to be programmed. I called the next day and they told me it needed a new transmission control module and they would have to order one. We went in on sept 26, 2016 and they said they had not received the part yet. Its been almost two weeks and we have not had the car because Ford hasn't delivered the part to the dealership.

The transmission will stop engaging while driving the motor rpms go up and you loose power to the wheels causing traffic to run into the back or run over you . Getting onto the highway merged into traffic got up to speed than all of the sudden motro reved up and lost speed rapidly almost got run over by tractor trailer had to pull off onto shoulder of the highway ,then thr call would not go over 30 mph this has happened 3 times . The first time Ford said it was the timing of motor . This has happened twice after that . I cant even drive be cause im afraid of killing me and my family. This transmission has a definite and they wont acknowledge . They did send me a recall for the tcm but they told me it had nothing to do with the transmission issue I have not driven the car due to safety and fear of hurting myself or someone else.

In addition, while driving 35 mph, the vehicle was jerking while the rpm was extremely rising. The contact mentioned that while at a stop, the vehicle stalled without warning. The vehicle was able to restart. The vehicle was taken to kowalski Ford 33450 lake rd, avon lake, OH 44012 where it was diagnosed that the transmission and dry clutch needed to be replaced, the shift lever needed to be repaired, transmission control module and power train control module needed to be repaired. The vehicle was repaired however, the failure persisted the next day. The vehicle was towed to kowalski Ford 33450 lake rd, avon lake, OH 44012 where the contact informed the them of the failure while driving however, the failure was not determined. My car had the transmission control module reprogrammed on 06/06/16 and is having the same issue as we speak 8/24/16. The car jerks, doesn't accelerate properly and is doing what it wants, very unsafe as it doesn't want to shift and jolts when it does. It's almost like its stuck in gear. This car has been nothing but problems and I'm irritated that this was repaired 2 months ago and the problem clearly isn't fixed. I'm pregnant and am very dissapointed that Ford can allow a problem like this to continue without proper resolution and safety for its customers.

Failure Date: 06/12/2016

I have been dealing with transmission issues since I bought the vehicle. The first time it happened I was doing 50 mph and it shifted out of gear. This was quite disturbing. I took it in to Ford and they told me it just needed the program updated. Then during the winter it wouldn't go into gear at all, not forward, reverse or anything. Once again I took it in and they said it was the programming. They programed it again. So back in Feb it happened again, and I did then receive a letter stating there was some issues, so I was given a 100,000 mile warranty on fixing the issue. Well I told them to replace the tcm, but once again they love to reprogram. So my oldest son is in need of a vehicle and he was driving it up in madison wisconsin on the most crazy freeway and it decided to lose the power doing more than 50 mph. My son was so stressed and was almost hit by a semi. I have had it with the reprogramming. I have emails and calls put into Ford and I am not asking for anything but a fix or to trade in and start over. They don't want to do anything for us at all. I guess they want someone to die first before they fix anything.

On 04/01/2016, my car was shuddering when I was drving as 10 mph, rpm not working correctly and gears shifting incorrectly. I brought my car into cal worthington Ford alaska. Their diagnosis- see15b22, reprogrammed pcm and tcm. Performed shift drum and clutch relearn, cleared codes- ok.

Transmission control module recall: after having the 'tcm' software updated in September, the transmission malfunction light still comes on when my car will not switch gears. One day driving down the interstate, my car was going 65 mph and was not switching gears. After having it towed to the nearest Ford dealership, my car was worked on and the transmission control module was finally replaced. Less than a week later, my car would not accelerate or switch gears while driving up a hill. My car began to move backwards since it would not accelerate. My car was rolling backwards down a hill into oncoming traffic. The Ford dealership does not seem to be concerned and assured me the software needed to be updated again after it was updated less than a week ago. This is something that I find to be dangerous if the car will not switch gears. The first time the car was taken to a Ford dealership, I was told that the transmission control module part itself was on backorder and could not be replaced for at least a year. Three months later when it was towed to a different Ford dealership, they had one readily available and it was replaced within two days and the software updated accompanied the service event. Less than a week later my car is in limp mode and will barely accelerate to get me safely off the road. This issue is much bigger than it seems and Ford does not seem to have the urgency to fix a dangerous issue for their customers. Upon calling Ford to have my vehicle looked at, it was about a 5 day wait and they could not provide me with a rental or loaner car.

I have a 2011 Ford Fiesta, my vehicle has a number of recalls out. (Ford recall number 15s16, field service action number 14m01 and 14m02). I had contacted the dealer November of 2015, they told me that they would contact me when parts were available. I have heard nothing for a year now. There are two recalls out having to do with the transmission. ( transmission clutch shudder/transmission input shaft seal warranty extension and transmission control module extended warranty coverage). I have had my father who is a mechanic tell me that is why my transmission is going out. I have three children and the car is barely shifting correctly and I feel is unsafe to drive but being my only form of transportation I am forced to do so. I need something done, I feel that I shouldn't have to pay for a new transmission when if the recalls were preformed in a timely manner I would not have any issues at all. Please help me resolve this issue. I am already paying so much on this car and getting no where with what I own due to all my payment going to interest. I cannot go without a vehicle. Please help!.

Failure Date: 11/29/2015

Vehicle wont go into gear. Engine starts fine, but transmission will not engage. Backed out of garage, put car into drive, and nothing. Car will not engage in r or d. Had it towed to dealer. Transmission control module replaced but car still not running correctly, per dealer. Dealer says car needs a new transmission. Ford says I'm 1450 miles and 60 days over the 60k/5 yr warranty so no assistance with paying for repairs. I've seem no indication from all these posts that a transmission replacement has fixed the vehicle.

Failure Date: 11/14/2015

This is an update to a previous complaint with my car. Previously the car gave out in the hills of a sf. The car said it had a problem with the transmission and would not give any propulsion risking going backward on a hill. The dealer updated the software. They said this was the fix. They said after 1000 miles it should fix itself. Since then the car has been running much more sluggish. It forces itself on accelerating. It jerks much more excessively when I take off the gas. It jerks much more when I brake and I hear the metal grinding and clanking together. It was a really bad software update. 1000 passed and we ran into another problem. I had the car parked in the house. Tried to turn car back on and would not turn on. I heard clicking noise as if the battery was dead. I had dome lights on for a few minutes but nothing excessive. Shouldn't die out like that. Tried several times to turn it on and nothing. Started to call roadside assistance for backup. I then removed the car charger I had plugged in and tried again. The car sputtered on and starting giving me notifications. A service and check engine light. Also the display said that there was a 'transmission malfunction' and to service it now. The engine was really forcing itself as I heard it. Rpm was high even going slow. Car still sputters on after a few tries. Checked the codes through obd2. Car was throwing p0606. Said that it was ecm/pcm processor problem. I have no idea what is wrong with this car. I feel like its completely falling apart all around. Horrible car with too many issues!!!! this car needs a massive recall on it!!! it is unequivocally unsafe and unfit for the road!.

After purchasing this vehicle in 2012, I experienced shaking while shifting, shuttering noises and idling in low gears. Several months after purchase, I contacted the dealership and I was told that oil was leaking onto my clutch. Covered under warranty, they replaced the flexplate and seals and reinstalled the transmission. I continued to experience shuttering, shaking and troublesome shifting but was reassured by the dealership that this experience was normal for this vehicle and its transmission and I need not be concerned. This week, while using cruise control at about 60 mph on a busy highway during rush hour, I heard what sounded like metal parts breaking under my left foot following by grinding noises. I pulled the car to the side of the highway safely but had to apply the e-brake because the car rolled forward in park and refused to accelerate in drive. I also saw messages on the computer monitor that read 'hillside start assist' and 'transmission ok. ' I called roadside assistance and after leaking what appeared to be oil all over the bed of the tow truck, the car has been taken to a Ford dealership. I have not yet received a diagnosis for the problem. The service adviser told me that he believes the issue is the traction control module. It should also be noted that two months ago, this same service adviser completed a tcm update following a letter I received from Ford this year to have this update applied. Ford motor company and all of their affiliated dealerships have endangered the lives and well-being of their customers and are providing misleading information about their vehicles.

2011 Ford Fiesta Transmission

The transmission is very sluggish between shifts of first and second gear. The car also doesn't always downshift when the brakes are applied. Had a recall notice from Ford for a software update to the tcm. Took in for service. No change. Dealer says it's just the way that transmissions works. Current situation is dangerous.

Failure Date: 09/15/2015

After being in park at a gas station, I go into drive and start to go when the cars shudders, screeches, halts, and then loses power. I was able to start the car again, but when I pressed the gas there is no power. I try to put the car in park, and though the gear is in park an alert comes up telling me to put the car in park. Car will not go into park. Keeps rolling. Have to use my emergency break to stop the car. Paid out of pocket to have the car towed to the nearest Ford dealership. They said they were 'pretty sure' it was the transmission control module. 5 days after bring it to them I call and find out that they have reprogrammed the transmission control module and something with the clutch. The problem is still not fixed. I haven't even been able to talk to the mechanic personally, but the lady at the service desk said 'it's really thrown him for a loop. It definitely seems to be something with your transmission, but diagnostics says nothing is wrong with the car'. This is going to kill someone. Period. It could've killed my boyfriend, my friend, my unborn baby and myself. I'm am furious with Ford. I have read hundreds of complaints from other people have the same problem with the same car. How has this not been recalled???.

While driving from denver to longmont CO (8/14/15) on hwy 76 the vehicle would not respond when I needed to accelerate then the engine cut off. I was able to restart and put in neutral to navigate traffic to get to side of the road. The car died. It could not be restarted. While waiting for tow truck I was able to start car again and tried to drive, it would not respond to accelerator and then died. Car was towed to longmont repair shop. The mechanic there reached out to Ford and was told they were aware of those issues but part was on 6 month backorder. Car was then picked up by Ford of longmont. They said that it wasn't the tcm and replaced 3 smaller parts. Six days later I was driving on diagonal highway in boulder CO and the car refused to accelerate and the died. Car was towed to Ford of longmont again. I was told by the service department that Ford requires that when replacing the tcm they must first repair minor part and return to customer as 'fixed' and wait for subsequent part failure before replacing the tcm. Ford of longmont replaced the part on 8/20/15.

Driving on interstate 75 in the middle lane at 70 mph my tcm malfunctioned, I knew this because of the customer satisfaction program 14m02 that I received in February 2015. My car abruptly had no power. I feared for my life because I had semi trucks and vehicles coming up behind me at very high speed and I had no power to my vehicle. I had to coast over one lane as safely as possible to the shoulder to safety. I am very thankful me or my family was not in a serious accident. The park and drive symbols on the dash were flashing between p and d and the engine light kept flashing. I turned off my car and called my brother. He said to see if it starts. It did after several tries. I then turned on my hazards and drove to the next exit which was within 200 ft. I got off the highway and took the back roads home. I got within 4 blocks of my home and it did it again, lost power. Let it sit a minute and turned it on again, and pulled into my residence. The next morning I drove the side streets to the dealer but made a stop. Came back out to my car and the vehicle would not start. Called the dealer and they sent a tow truck but I had to wait 1 hour for the truck to arrive. This is a very dangerous situation with the tcm. A very serious problem is since it's not a recall you do not have the option to have it fixed before you're put into a dangerous situation. You have to wait until you have problems before Ford's will fix the tcm. Ford did replace the malfunctioning tcm on my car. A recall needs to replace the customer satisfaction program 14m02, this is a very dangerous and life threatening problem.

Failure Date: 06/22/2015

In Feb. Of 2015 I received a letter from Ford motor CO. About the transmission control module. The 'notice' said my car may experience intermittent symptoms of lose of power while driving,no-start,or a lack of power, among a few other things. When I called a Ford dealer. . . I was basically treated like a stupid old woman and when I ask what I should do, I was told drive it until it happens!. Well, it happened! 5 months later my car stalled, the motor kept running, the car just would not go, I was lucky I had time to get to the side of the road before I was rear-ended. Ford did 'fix' my car. Today, 3 months later, my car stalled on a very busy high, 18 wheeler right behind me and once again I was able to quickly turn into a parking lot. Now they have my car and it will take 3 months, that's right 3 months to 'fix' it! I'm very happy to be alive to report this. I'm very happy I get to see my family again. Thanks Ford for almost taking my life twice!!!! why is this not a recall!!!!!!! let's not forget about the people I could've died with today. I'm so mad. How can Ford get away with this. Who will die today, tonight or tomorrow because of this? better pray it's not your family member or mine!.

There were two incidents where car lost all power while travelling at 35 and 50 mph, the check engine light came on, the transmission dashboard indicator flashed from p to d back and forth. When restarting and idling, the engine shuddered. After the first incident (5/29), Ford dealership reprogrammed the transmission control module. After the second incident (6/13), two weeks later, the dealership replaced the clutch and the transmission control module (tcm).

2011 Ford Fiesta Transmission Control Module

Failure Date: 05/29/2015

While parked with the vehicle running (about 30 minutes in 87 degree weather with the ac on), the transmission felt like it tried to go into drive and rocked forward slightly. I looked at the dash and the check engine light came on. I tested the vehicle and it seemed road worthy enough to try and get home. When driving home and stopped at a stop light, the car's display for park, neutral, reverse, drive, started quickly flashing between drive and park. I could not accelerate the vehicle while this was going on. I placed the vehicle in park, and then met fairly heavy resistance putting it back into drive. After a few seconds of flashing between drive and park, it stopped and I was able to drive again. The same thing happened a few minutes later while I was about to turn into the Ford dealership. This time I tried turning off the vehicle to see if that would remedy the issue. I was unable to start the vehicle for a minute or two after because it was acting as if I was in drive (or the fast park / drive flutter) and trying to start it. It's been two days, yet I haven't heard back from the dealership on what this problem is. I did receive a recall notice that spells out the exact symptoms that I had, yet the mechanic has twice said it is very unlikely that the recall part, the tcm or transmission control module (which is back ordered six weeks), is the actual problem.

Failure Date: 04/06/2015

Issues with car weak performance, car shuddering, grinding noises in engine, stalling when brake is pressed while in drive gear, car lunging forward and not wanting to engage, not wanting to go after a complete stop, not engaging in reverse, and engine light coming on randomly. Almost rear ended by a car behind me came to a screeching stop because of the hesitation to engage in first gear. Took the car to a Ford dealer and was told that I would have to pay a diagnosis fee. Because if it did not test at a certain level of performance the dealer would not pay for the testing or repair. I stated I had a customer satisfaction program 12mo1 letter for the clutch assembly and they said it did not matter. I left the dealer very upset and dissatisfied. Drove the car and the symptoms worsened. I got into my car one day and the car would not engage in reverse. Luckily on was parked on an incline and coasted out of the parking spot. Drove the car to the dealer and they did not have the new clutch assembly in stock. I then asked for a rental until the car was repaired because I felt it was very unsafe to drive my daughter in with the problems it was having, I was told no. So I was forced to drive this car with these problems for a week until the Ford dealer received the new clutch assembly. This car is a very dangerous vehicle to have on the road not only for those driving the vehicle but also for those car that drive behind these cars. Ford absolutely knows they have a major issue with the dual clutch system. Regular clutches are controlled hydraulically but these dual clutches are control electronically by the tcm which has a customer satisfaction program 14m01 that Ford has sent out. Between the leaking transmissions seal corrupting the clutch and the tcm failing that controls the clutch that is a double jeopardy situation. This is a very dangerous car to have on the roads.

Failure Date: 01/05/2015

Vehicle suddenly began to alternately surge and experience loss of power while driving, slipping badly between gears. Service engine light came on. From a stop, the vehicle nearly stalled when accelerator was depressed. Ford dealership stated engine code indicated a bad clutch actuator. This is a cvt automatic transmission and there are several tsbs on this transmission for a variety of problems with the tcm/pcm, clutch plates, clutch actuators, and seals. Ford has extended the warranty for these transmissions but is apparently only fixing the obvious problem at time of breakdown instead of replacing all known defective parts. The driving characteristics when one of these parts fail is dangerous, causing the car to shudder, jerk, experience loss of power when shifting, or experiencing sudden throttle surges. All know problem parts should be replaced. A recall is in order.

Failure Date: 01/01/2015

While driving, vehicle shudders and hesitates when accelerating. Lurches forward at times when stopped. Bucks while shifting (transmission is their powershift automatic). One time the transmission completely disengaged while driving on the parkway during a snowstorm, leaving in a very dangerous position. Had to turn the car off and on several times to get transmission to 'reset'. At times, when releasing brake from stationary position, car would shudder even before applying the throttle. Transmission control module has been changed out twice in the last 15 months of purchasing the car from the dealer as 'certified pre-owned'. Last tcm change, the car had same issues as soon as I left service department. Called service adviser as soon as I got home and he said I had to drive the vehicle 1000-12000 miles for the transmission to 'get used to the way I drive'. Needless to say, after 2000 miles, there has been no change in condition. Taking vehicle back for the 5th time for continued problems. I have recently inquired about a class action law suit against Ford motor company being filed in CA regarding these same issues from other Ford Fiesta owners.

24194 kmFinally, after much insistence on my part to Ford-- with backup from the dealer that abnormal noises could be heard, the automatic clutch module (of the auto transmission) was replaced and the transmission functioned well without noise.
20968 kmFlywheel failed. I was sitting in bumper-to-bumper traffic when the engine light and the 'limp home' light came on. The Fiesta did make it the additional 50 miles to the dealer. Still hesitates, bursts, tach jumps around, stutters, etc. After the flywheel repair, the car made grinding noises in reverse. It also would shift through all four gears before I got to 30 mph. Returned to the dealer and left the vehicle for several additional days. They said it was a computer prob.
